The SELA Corporation was founded in 1991 and has become an acknowledged leader in the creation and retailing of casual wear throughout Russia and 13 other countries. Since 2000, distribution of SELA products has expanded rapidly through our partnership network of franchisees as well as through our own stores.
The first SELA store opened in 1997 in St Petersburg. Pioneering fashion retailing in Russia, SELA has developed from small stores with limited assortments for the family to an international brand offering well designed, good quality and affordable ranges of casual wear for women, men, teens and kids.
The 15 years of SELA history reflect the rapid change and development of fashion retailing in Russia and the CIS. From a situation of shortages of basic clothing to today`s epoch of a highly competitive free market with a huge array of choice for the customer, SELA has led the way in modern fashion retailing.
A key resource for the Corporation is its Shanghai Buying & Sourcing Operation. This office was established in 1994 and immediately started to work with Chinese fabric and garment manufacturers to produce clothes to SELA specifications. Over 12 years, this operation has grown into one of the most advanced clothing and accessories sourcing operations in the industry, utilizing the technology, sewing skills and capacity of more than 50 Chinese factories producing to precise specifications and demanding quality standards.
Today, SELA is a vertically integrated international corporation providing employment to over 5,000 people. From product design, sourcing, supply chain and merchandise presentation at point of sale, SELA resources and know how combine to meet our customers needs, to the tune of 15 million items sold in our stores in the past year.
The market continues to change and place new demands on us. SELA will meet these new challenges and continue to build on the foundations of the past 15 years. With Corporate offices in Israel, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Estonia and China, SELA is well placed to expand its international operations both with our own stores and in cooperation with new partners.
